Scan once.
Check every child.

Point your phone at a barcode โ€” or photograph the ingredients label โ€” and NibbleCheck tells you, child by child, what the label says about their allergies.

Free when it launches — and a child’s allergy result will never sit behind a payment.

Set up once. Checked every time.

Each child's allergies live in one place. After that, every scan is checked against the right profile โ€” automatically.

1

Add your children

Create a profile for each child and tap the allergens they react to, with how serious each one is.

2

Scan or photograph

Scan the barcode, or snap the ingredients label when there isn't one. Works on the products UK families actually buy.

3

See a clear answer

A verdict for each child โ€” no allergens found in the ingredients, may contain, or contains an allergen to avoid โ€” with how sure we are, so you know when to double-check the pack.

28 allergens

All 14 UK-labelled allergens โ€” and the ones labels don't call out

Every allergen UK law requires on a label, plus the common ones it doesn't, down to the individual tree nut.

Milk Egg Peanut Cereals with gluten Soya Sesame Fish Crustaceans Molluscs Tree nuts Mustard Celery Lupin Sulphites Wheat Almond Hazelnut Walnut Cashew Pecan Pistachio Brazil nut Macadamia Coconut Pea protein Corn Kiwi Buckwheat

NibbleCheck reads the ingredients list, not just the bold text โ€” so hidden names (whey, casein, albumen) and "may contain" warnings are caught too.

For the whole household

Made for real families

Co-parents, grandparents and childminders all see the same profiles โ€” and the same answers.

Share with your household

Invite a co-parent or carer. Children's profiles and scan history stay in sync for everyone who looks after them.

Child Mode in development

A simple, big-button view for older children to check a snack themselves โ€” with nothing to change and nothing to break. Being built carefully: anything aimed at children goes through a data-protection review before it ships.

Free-from finder

Browse products that are already clear for your child's allergens, and save the ones that work.

UK food alerts

Live allergy alerts and product recalls from the Food Standards Agency, filtered to the allergens your family cares about.

Why we built it

One jar. Two children. Two different answers.

NibbleCheck comes out of real family experience โ€” more than one child, different allergies, and the same small print read twice in a supermarket aisle. One reacts to pea protein, which UK labels are not required to call out at all. The other reacts to milk, wheat and egg.

The answer for one child tells you nothing about the other, and the recipe may have changed since last time without anyone mentioning it. Parents don't need more information. They need faster, clearer decisions.

Our mission: help families make safer food decisions with confidence. Safer, not safe โ€” a label cannot tell us a food is safe, and we will never pretend otherwise.

More about why, and who's behind it
What we believe
  • Families think in households, not individuals
  • Confidence matters more than false certainty
  • Pea protein is under-served by every other tool
  • The physical packaging is always the final authority

Built by one person in the UK, on UK labels.

Community

Fill the gaps, one label at a time

Some products have no ingredients on file yet. When you photograph a label, you can send it in for review. Once labels from other families agree, everyone who scans that barcode gets an answer.

  • Nothing goes live on one person's word โ€” a label is only used once other households have independently agreed with it.
  • A community label can add an allergen warning; it can never remove one from a trusted source.
  • Your photo is stored privately for review and deleted afterwards โ€” it's never shown with your name.

Questions parents ask

The ones that come up before anyone downloads anything.

What if the product isn’t in your database?

Photograph the ingredients label and NibbleCheck reads it, or type the ingredients in yourself — either way you get the same per-child verdict. You can also send the label in for review, and once other families’ labels agree it answers everyone who scans that barcode.

Does it work in a shop with no signal?

For anything you have scanned before, yes — the answer is kept on your phone and the matching happens on the device, not on a server. A product you have never scanned needs a connection to look up. Supermarket aisles are exactly where signal dies, so an old saved answer will tell you how old it is rather than pretending to be fresh.

Is it free?

It will be free when it launches. We may charge for some things later, but not for these: a child’s allergy result, typing in ingredients by hand, and food-recall alerts stay free permanently. Whatever a paid tier ends up being, it will not be the answer to “can she eat this?”

Can it tell me a food is safe for my child?

No, and it never will. A label tells you what is in the recipe. It cannot tell you what else was made on that line, or what was made there an hour earlier. NibbleCheck reads the label thoroughly and tells you what it found, what it could not check, and how sure it is — then you check the packaging. That last step never goes away.

What about “may contain” warnings?

Kept, always, and never quietly downgraded. If a label carries a precautionary warning for one of your child’s allergens, you see it — even when nothing was found in the ingredients themselves. Uncertainty lowers a verdict here; it never removes one.

Which allergens can it track?

Twenty-eight. All fourteen UK law requires on a label, the eight tree nuts individually rather than as one lump, and the ones labels are not obliged to call out at all — pea protein, coconut, corn, kiwi and buckwheat.

What happens to my family’s data?

There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking in the app, and nothing is sold or shared. Children’s allergy information is the most sensitive thing we hold and it is treated that way. The privacy policy says specifically what is kept and for how long, and deleting your account really deletes it.

Who is behind it?

One person in the UK, building it out of the same family experience it is meant to help with. More about that.

No reviews yet — and we won't invent any

NibbleCheck hasn't launched, so nobody has used it for a real weekly shop except us. A wall of five-star quotes would be the easiest thing on this page to fake, and the least worth your trust. When there are real ones, they go here — including the critical ones.

Run a nursery or childminding setting?
